Choral Variations on Simple Gifts

This arrangement is an almost literal, note-for-note adaptation of Aaron Copland's variations on the Shaker tune Simple Gifts as it appears in his orchestral suite Appalachian Spring. The variations have been arranged for SATB chorus and piano. Some re-composing was necessary in Variation VI in order to adapt Copland's three-voice writing to the four-voice choral texture. All dynamic and expression marks and articulations have been transferred from Copland's score.
