Work of the Week – Fazil Say: Concerto

We want more trumpets! In Fazil Say’s exciting new work Concerto, he features not only one, but two solo trumpets! World-renowned virtuosos Gábor Boldoczki and Sergei Nakariakov will perform the world premiere with the FOK Prague Symphony Orchestra and conductor Andrey Boreyko on 13 May 2023 in Budapest’s spectacular Béla Bartók National Concert Hall.

Work of the Week – Katherine Balch: whisper concerto

Reinventing instruments: The world premiere of Katherine Balch's new work whisper concerto for violoncello and orchestra will take place in Dallas, Texas, on 20 April 2023 with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra conducted by Gemma New. Cellist Zlatomir Fung, the youngest musician to ever win the First Prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition Cello division, will perform as soloist.

Work of the Week – Christian Jost: Voyage vers l'espoir

The opera world is looking forward to the Grand Théâtre de Genève’s world premiere of Voyage vers l'espoir (Journey of Hope) by Christian Jost, and libretto by Kata Wéber, on 28 March 2023. With libretto by Kata Wéber and musical direction by Gabriel Feltz and the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, audiences can expect a unique production by director, Kornél Mundruczó, with costume and stage design by Monika Pormale.

Gavin Bryars has specifically written notation for keyboardist, Mahan Esfahani (pictured), to play freely beyond the page as he performs the world premiere of Bryars’ Harpsichord Concerto with Andrew Manze and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic on 23 March 2023.

The piece is dedicated to world renowned soloist Daishin Kashimoto who will perform it for the first time on 02 March 2023 with the Berliner Philharmoniker under the baton of Paavo Järvi at the Philharmonie Berlin.
