Description

In the summer of 1888, Bertha Benz quietly slips out of the house at dawn and climbs onto the Patent Motorwagen Number 3. She repairs the rattling machine with her garter and refuels it with cleaning solvent from a pharmacy in Wiesloch. Thirteen hours later, shaken but safe, she arrives in Pforzheim – and makes the ‘horseless carriage’ famous. In this children’s concert, Bertha not only tells the story of her famous journey, but also dem onstrates what a car starter and a Mercedes Benz engine sound like. In a playful adaptation of a well-known German folk song, the young audience joins in singing: ‘High on the mo torwagen …’ (original: 'yellow wagon' = stage coach)
