Product Details

Description

Gerald Barry’s new Double Bass Concerto follows on from his other major concertos such as the acclaimed Piano Concerto, Viola Concerto, and most recently his Cello Concerto. The work was written for Principal Bass of the Berlin Philharmonic, Matthew McDonald. Described by Barry to be a ‘dreamlike scene’, the concerto draws on material from one of his early operas, transformed to bring life to the unique soundworld and virtuosity of the double bass.
