Description
Beware of the unexpected! No two compositions here sound alike. Friesen´s softly plucked bass produces caressing sound, which shift to laid-back funk, then to traditional swing and which then land on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro. Naturally, the trip´s destination depends on the sideman. Most of these pieces also feature Gary Baron on the fluegelhorn, who along with David Friesen, plays some of the smoothest flowing unisonous lines one could wish for. Despite the stylistics variety, on all his albums Friesen succeeds in carrying through his creative and conceptual approach to the music.
