Greater Power

As the title suggests, this engaging original has a gospel-inspired melody and chord changes. The saxophone section shares the limelight with trumpet and tenor saxophone soloists. The saxophones are required to be aggressive on the soli passages, while the rest of the band demonstrates a variety of textures and dynamic levels. While precision and blend are teaching points here, another valuable opportunity is given to the soloists. The solo changes can be negotiated using either a concert G natural minor scale or a G minor blues scale. A guitar chord chart by Jim Greeson is included in each set.
