Composed for the 2012 Jazz Cruise™ to feature New York bass trombonist Jennifer Wharton, this swing chart for proficient groups showcases a valuable, yet often overlooked member of the big band. The melody is scored below the bass clef staff and into the pedal register, and is offset by dramatic ensemble punctuations before launching the soloist into a section of written or ad lib solos. The shout chorus incorporates dynamic exchanges between the ensemble and soloist, all leading to the low-note finale.
