Beschreibung

Die Verbindung aus Jazz und den Möglichkeiten des zeitgenössischen Orchesterklangs spielen in den Werken von Mark-Anthony Turnage eine große Rolle. In Blood on the Floor legt Turnage erstmals großen Wert auf das Jazzelement Improvisation und hat überdies seine Interpreten von Beginn an in den Kompositionsprozess einbezogen. Der Titel verweist auf ein Gemälde des britischen Malers Francis Bacon, das Inspirationsquelle für den Prolog von Blood on the Floor war. In den acht folgenden Teilen wendet sich Turnage verstärkt jeweils einem Instrument oder einem musikalischen Aspekt zu.
