Description

My aim in this composition is to depict the phenomenon of the ‘intermediate state’ in tonal form. The Tibetan Book of the Dead uses the term ‘bardo’ to describe this state which in actual fact consists of three distinct intermediate states, the first of which is the moment before death. The focus is on the period shortly before, during and shortly after the scientific definition of death. Near-death experiences have been encountered by individuals irrespective of their religion or cultural background who have experienced numerous common occurrences such as a feeling of ‘peace’, love and happiness, the view through a ‘tunnel’, departing from one’s own body, meeting up with already deceased individuals or supernatural creatures and an autobiographical review of one’s own life. Gibt es etwas, das jetzt Erwähnung finden sollte, ...das es wert wäre, in Gedanken weiter zu leben? Was bleibt? Was kommt? Endlose Sehnsucht. Die Taten, die Werke, die Kinder? Die Liebe? Bleibt nur die Liebe......oder nichts, nichts, nichts. Komm, keusche Nacht im weißen Kleid, leise, leise Räume, empfange mich, ich bin bereit. Lass meine Seele zu dir flieh´n, weiße, helle Träume, in unendliche Weiten zieh´n. Löse dich auf! Alles verflüchtigt sich in ein strahlendes Nichts. Schattengleich. Löse dich auffff...
