Unknown colleagues of Dmitri Shostakovich probably put together a charming eight-movement suite from film and stage scores in the 1950s. The Waltz No. 2 contained in this Suite No. 2 for jazz orchestra enjoyed great international popularity and was also used in numerous films. This piece has been arranged many times for a wide variety of instrumentations. Hans-Joachim Rogoll's present arrangement makes the waltz accessible for salon orchestras.
