Description

Vom Stern, der nicht leuchten konnte depicts the fantasy world of a theatre’s backstage props and tells the story of a distraught star that doesn't shine and has therefore ruined the dress rehearsal. Other protagonists include an irascible revolver, a narcissistic bouquet of flowers, two scheming wigs, a work-weary throne, and Madame Candelabra - the Grande Dame of the theatre - with her voracious tutus that only she can keep under control. I took enormous pleasure in the challenge of bringing this motley crew to life and providing a musical illustration of the paths the props have to take before they realize that they will only achieve success by working together.
