Description
The Rhine is the lifeline of the Rhine Hesse region: what could therefore be more appropriate [for a work in its honour] than to start with the expression Panta rhei [everything flows] by the Ancient Greek natural philosopher Heraclitus from Ephesos (540–480 BC) – particularly as this famous saying simultaneously provides an etymological explanation of the name ‘Rhine’. And as wine also flows copiously in Rhine Hesse, Panta rhei has developed into a vigorous fast polka which, like a sip of good wine, will also fill everyone with great cheer. Enjott Schneider
