Description

This piece is a revised and extended version of Hosokawa’s Hiroshima Requiem. Hosokawa, who was born in Hiroshima ten years after it was destroyed by a nuclear bomb, had never spoken with his parents about the devastation of his home town until he returned to Japan after his studies in Germany. After discovering the extent of the devastation he decided to work the events into his requiem. As the title indicates, the silence about the traumatic events is one main focus of Voiceless Voice in Hiroshima.
