Rossavielle are among Austrian's most legendary folk bands, but the individual musicians have already played with many famous groups such as the ..Vienna Ceilidh Band". From the vielle a roue to the uilleann pipes, from a capella to instrumental, from four-four time to seven-eights... It is not the successor band of "Liederlich Spielleut", even if there are well-known band members included. Robby Lederer and Nicky Eggl were members of the "Liederlich" until they broke up, Nuppi Jenner, who was a co-founder of the legendary Austrian folk band, left that band some years ago; the fourth member of Rossavielle is Herwig Thöni from Liechtenstein. Their musical concept differs extremely to the one of "Liederlich Spielleut". Their style does not include a rehabilitation of Austrian and German folkmusic or cabaret sketches like the former band used to do it. Rossavielle's preferences are the Irish, Scottish and English music as well as the music from Brittany, Italy and the Balkan. Their sound is marked by brilliant arrangements including side-steps to "foreign" styles such as the jazz. This fact, as well as the big reputation they got from their folk fans, makes a venue such as the Viennese "Kulisse" easily crowded. Thev had a successful presentation of their first CD at the Kulisse, where they were backed up by the great uillean pipes player Dermot Hyde, who can be heard on the new album as well. Rossavielle are on the best way to become Austria's number one folk band.
