‘Unser Vater … unser Vater … unser Vater …’: Stefan Heucke’s choral work begins triple piano with a questioning tenderness and only comes to its conclusion aft er several doubtfully expressed ‘Amens’ followed by a final affirmative ‘Amen’ in triple forte. For this very special setting of the Lord’s Prayer, Norbert Lammert has prepared a pow erful modern adaptation of the best-known of all prayers. The composition is an extract from Heucke’s longer choral work Pater noster in which the composer also incorporates the Lord’s Prayer in Latin and supplements the choir with four soloists. Heucke’s third version of his composition scored only for choir and organ is ideal for performance within a liturgical context.
