Description
Zimmermann was Frank Martin’s successor as Professor of Composition at the Musikhochschule in Cologne and also composed music for radio plays for many years. Between 1950 and 1959, he created over a hundred scores in this genre.
The seven aphoristic pieces under the collective title Un « petit rien » were based on music for a radio performance of Marcel Aymé’s comedy Die Mondvögel dating from 1958: a student discovers that he possesses the rare gift of being able to transform people into birds.
