"Ubi est Abel frater tuus?"

My one-movement concerto consisting of three main sections on the principle of slow - fast - slow was dictated to me by the planned date of the World Première on 24 April. This is for all Armenians the day commemorating the victims of 1915 and also explains the origin of the work’s title "Ubi est Abel frater tuus?”. This question becomes relevant every time the hand of a human being is raised against one of his fellow men. I have attempted to give this concerto the character of a Requiem; for myself I have named the three sections of the work 'Kyrie eleison', 'Dies irae' and 'Lacrimosa'. The concerto is dedicated to Jan Vogler and Semyon Bychkov, the performers of its World Première. (Tigran Mansurjan)
