Description
This arrangement is based on the two tangos for piano No. 2 in A minor from the cycle Zwei Spanische Tänze Op. 164 and the famous No. 2 in D major from the suite Spanien Op. 165 by Isaac Albéniz. Rodion Shchedrin knows how to dress up the classical Spanish folklore melodies in his transcription for large orchestra colourfully and vividly and increase the distinctive rhythm of the tango to a ‘tangissimo’.
