Premiered by VocalEssence in 2006, TRUTH, through music, choreography and words, depicts key moments in the life of Isabella Baumfree the slave and her transformation into the legendary human rights crusader Sojourner Truth. Alvin Singleton’s music bolsters this story’s drama with its edgy and eclectic mix of propulsive percussive instrumentation and a cappella choral utterances.
