Description

Peter Racine Fricker sets lines from a poem, Christ, generally attributed to the eighth century poet Cynewulf, dealing with the apocalyptic vision of Judgement Day. He employs huge forces, similar to Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast, although there are also moments of repose, chiefly at those moments when fragments from the Latin text of the Requiem Mass are interposed in Cynewulf’s great poem.
