The Overlanders Suite
Détails du produit
Description
Suite from music for the film The Overlanders (1946–47), a production by the legendary Ealing Studios. The film deals with an Australian episode in the Second World War, when in the face of a threatened Japanese invasion a motley team of herdsmen drove a great herd of cattle across the burning desert and rugged mountains of North Australia to safer quarters many hundreds of miles to the south.
John Ireland was himself a leading organist; Augustine Cox premiered this transcription in 2024 at Holy Trinity Church, Sloane Square, Chelsea, where the composer was sub-organist from 1896 until 1904. A brilliant arrangement of a vivid and entertaining score which will be warmly welcomed by organ transcription aficionados.
