The Invasion
for chamber orchestra with Turkish instruments
Composed for the Canberra International Music Festival as part of the larger Gallipoli Symphony, a symphony-in-progress in to which several composers will contribute, The Invasion depicts the beginning of the World War I battle of Gallipoli from the perspective of the Ottoman soldier. Spiritual and dream-like lines comingle with explosive noise representing the soldier’s conflicting state of reflecting on the enormity of the moment while engaging in fierce combat.
