Composed in May of the year 2019, The Faint Ginkgo is the latest new piece among the composer XiaogangYe’s subtropical plant series. Ye has always been taking a keen interest in mysterious and beautiful plants. His other pieces among this series such as Lagerstroemia Indica, Scent of Green Mango, Datura, and Enchanted Bamboo have been respectively performed around the world.
Being mysterious and beautiful, Ginkgo is the oldest tree in the world. The tree has existed in China for hundreds of millions of years. The orchestral piece The Faint Ginkgo expresses the composer’s love and concern for nature. With the composer’s unique harmony language, elegant and subtle timbre changes, the piece expresses the human being’s exploration and curiosity to the ancient but still unknown things in the new century, as well as the concern about the interdependence between human beings and the nature, and the deep vision of beauty in human heart.
