Description
Revel follows a day in the life of a Mancunian youngster looking forward to going out to a carnival. The four movements that make up Revel chronologically link in with a time of day - dawn, late morning, afternoon and evening. The mood of each of the moments is captured through the music: the haziness of an early morning wakeup, the bustle of a peak time commute, the revelry of the carnival and finally the rain filled journey home (Manchester being famed for its rainy weather). Each movement shines a spotlight on an instrument, or grouping of instruments. Listen out for the glass harmonica in the first movement, the two pianos in the second, the cello in the third and the woodwinds in the fourth.
