Description
I used to play Luciano Berio's Erdenklavier quite often when I was a child. I wrote this short epigram Erdenklavier-Himmelklavier to take farewell from my maestro and friend who is playing on the “Himmelklavier”. The first version dating back to 2003 was drafted as a dark and grim funeral music; the second version from 2007 became a “concert version” of the same material. In 2018/2019, I finally arranged this originally epigrammatic piece for a large orchestra, which premiered as season opening concert in Dresden on 29 August. The Staatskapelle Dresden was conducted by Alan Gilbert. Peter Eötvös
