Description
‘The bird-catcher, that’s me!’ This concise story of Papageno and the Magic Flute is presented by Papageno, who repeatedly invites the young audience to join in the action. Children take on the roles of serpents, fire, water and wild beasts – lavish sets and costumes are not necessary. The singers are accompanied by just flute (doubling piccolo) and piano. An additional small-scale version of this work allows a further reduction of the musicians, and the piccolo doubling is removed. If desired, it is even possible for the roles of Papageno, Papagena, Tamino, Pamina and Monostatos to be performed by just two singers. An English version of the libretto is also available for the original large-scale Version.
