Oriri

Oriri [Latin for ‘to rise, to emerge’] is dedicated to the Estonian Festival Orchestra and Paavo Järvi, in consideration of Arvo Pärt’s 90th birthday. For me, this piece always felt like a beginning – an opening and unveiling. At first, it wandered in a forgotten world where time stood still and paths lay buried. Then, a great, ancient gate emerged. It did not yield to force but opened only through trust in the right feeling. Guided by the sound of a beloved orchestra, a luminous garden unfolded – a world pulsing with life, like those seen only in dreams. Elis Hallik
