Icons of Blue, Black & Sun

Esa Pietilä's Icons of Blue, Black & Sun (String quartet no. 2) was composed in 2022 and premiered by SKATTA String Quartet.

Three icons in three colours is an association of colours and the state of mind and feeling how a person experiences colours individually. The composer does not want to open up its colours of its name on purpose - the idea behind the three movements of the piece is that the listener can personally associate the colours of the names him/herself to the movements of the piece.

The work is in three movements: Allegro luminoso, Magico misterioso and Presto. Duration: 14'30''
