Description
J. K. Mertz was the supreme Central-European Guitarist-Composer of the Romantic era. Researched and edited by Graziano Salvoni, the repertoire on offer contains many first publications which perfectly complement our previous Mertz publications. Volume 11 presents 12 works for players of moderate ability, in a new critical edition prepared from autograph manuscripts in the Boije collection; some are previously unpublished, and historical notes and critical commentaries are included.

Johann Kaspar Mertz, eigentlich Caspar Joseph Mertz (1806-1856) ist der bekannteste Gitarrist-Komponist der Romantik. Stilistisch vergleichbar mit Frédéric Chopin, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdyund Robert Schumann, spielt er für das Gitarrenrepertoire eine große Rolle, auch seine Bearbeitungen von z. B. Schubert-Liedern sind legendär. Die Sammlung von Chanterelle möchte ihn ehren und seiner Bedeutung gerecht werden. Während die älteren 10 Bände überwiegend Reprints von Erstausgaben mit ausführilichen Vorworten sind, wurden Band 11-13 auf der Grundlage von Autographen und Erstausgaben neu ediert und kommentiert.
