Description
The first of two poems that makes up The Shadow of the Night, George Chapman's poem is a mysterious work with the author, perhaps deliberately, never quite revealing his true intentions. Melancholic yet with humour, this powerful poem has been set by Alexander Goehr for counter-tenor Michael Chance and Fretwork, both of whom Goehr has collaborated with previously.
