Description

Berlin is boring, but there is plenty happening on the moon! The only thing to do is find a way to fly there! The mechanic Fritz Steppke has invested his inheritance in his dream and constructed a hot-air balloon. He soon finds fellow passengers in the shape of his two friends Panneke und Lämermeier, but his beloved Mariechen is not at all enthusiastic about his ridiculous idea. His landlady Mrs. Pusebach shares Mariechen’s opinion and turns him out of his flat. Now there is only one way ahead: have a stiff drink and then set off for the moon where Mrs. Luna awaits him with highly earthly entertainments!

Paul Lincke’s sensational operetta containing undying hits such as Das ist die Berliner Luft [Berlin Air] was an immediate success and has now become firmly established in the German operetta repertoire. The work is available in the original text version dating from 1899 and in a revised version made in the 1950s and can easily be adapted for the present day.
