Fonogrammi

The young Penderecki was an avid researcher and discoverer of sonorities: his compositions dating from the 1950’s and 60’s are expeditions to the epicentre of sound. This is exemplified in his short concert piece Fonogrammi in which the solo instrument immerses itself into the chamber orchestra in an exploration of micro-intervals and instrumental colouring. The soloist is however also treated to a ‘genuine’ cadenza, peppered with highly varied playing techniques and forms of articulation.
