Description
Herbert Willi’s Flute Concerto in one movement is his third composition for flute. The work begins with an explosion of rhythmic energy, out of which emerges an orchestral fabric. This provides space for episodes of chamber music that involve the solo flute and create a variety of tone colours. The interaction between the solo instrument and the two orchestral flutes – which form a trio – unleashes an exquisite timbre that explores the spectrum of tonal shading.
