Description
Dreamcaller is a cycle of three songs on original texts for soprano and chamber orchestra, with each song separated by music for violin and orchestra. While the overall formal plan consists of five major sections, the work may be viewed as a large three part arch-like structure. The music engages a multiplicity of diverse stylistic perspectives, employing both tonal and non-tonal materials, in an effort to support and heighten the dramatic import of the texts. The work is dedicated to the loving memory of my mother. Joseph Schwantner
