Description

The mayor has a brilliant idea: he wants to expand his small town, adding new office blocks and shopping malls, modernising everything. He needs space to realise his dream, so he plans to have the forest that borders the town cleared. His children Juliane and Julius are horrified. What will then happen to their playground? What will be the fate of all the animals in the forest? And where will the elderly find peace and quiet?

Elisabeth Naske and Johanna von der Deken relate the tale of how these children enlist the aid of Hullewulle, the spirit of the forest, to cure their father of his blind insanity in the name of so-called progress in their captivating children’s opera based on the 1970 children’s book by Mira Lobe and Susi Weigel.
