Description

This is one of several examples in Alexander Goehr’s work of the process of transference of a spatial into a temporal concept. Goehr writes of Goya’s painting: ’Uncertain light: dark above, bright below. The colossal figure of a man half turned away … below, tiny figures, animals and men, scurry about, rushing this way and that, panic-stricken.’
