Description

In this orchestral work, Christian Jost deals with the topic of transition, both as a phase within a musical work and as a musico-historical phenomenon. For that, he selected four excerpts from the slow movements of major late-Romantic works and put them in a new, modern context: tonal figures from the ninth symphonies of Beethoven, Bruckner and Mahler as well as Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony. He forgoes any main motifs but interweaves the melodic and harmonic material of a transitional passage into a new ‘music of transition’.
