Arrival

My orchestral work Arrival is part of a largerscale symphonic project, representing a moment of (interim) arrival. A brief horn solo, evoking sounds from the past, opens the piece. It sounds fragile, as if coming from a great distance, repeating within a compact harmonic texture that stretches across almost the entire orchestral range. Around the midpoint of the piece, the whole orchestra converges on the tuning note A, like a landing, before resuming its further progression with ascending bass lines. Although Arrival is a symphonic illustration of an interim arrival, it is however nothing more than the pause before the next departure.
