“All I Was Doing Was Breathing” is the first in the cycle of “Ecstatic Songs” on texts by Hindu mystic poet Mirabai. ” It was premiered by the Michigan State University Women's Chamber Ensemble at the 2009 ACDA Convention and became the “talk of the convention” for its creativity and impact
This first song is a setting for 4-Part women's chorus. It is marked by sinuous and sensual solo lines, drones, embellishment, rhythmic ostinati and layering of voices and instruments.
