Description

''The music seeps through your pores and settles, with ease and grace, behind the light of your eyes. [...] I have found myself, especially with headphones, floating away on clouds of ambient synthesizers, sitar and percussion,'' a critic wrote about Al Gromer Khan and his music.

This absolutely fits for Lexus. On his 14th album, Al Gromer Khan creates a homogenous symbiosis of traditional instruments (in addition to the sitar and bass sitar, also including the surbahar, Indian and African percussion, the accordion and piano) and electronic elements. A delicately designed bridge between the past, present and (possible) future -- because Gromer believes that man will continue to turn to contemplative music for years to come. He is firmly convinced that sooner or later everyone will be drawn to this form, because it is much less ''composed'' and ''structured'' than modern pop music. A difference which Gromer once illustrated by comparing it to a cup of tea: “Western music, starting from its origins right up to modern dance music, offers us all possible forms of cups which are all important and useful in their own way. But in my opinion, everyone will eventually reach the point where (s)he will lose the meaning of such beauty. (S)He feels thirsty and wants to drink. But the thirst of the soul cannot be satisfied with every form of music.” For this, one needs music that touches the spiritual part of human beings(s), enabling relaxation and creating a space for inner reflection, sometimes even opening new doors along the way. “LEXUS” gets as close to this ideal as possibly conceivable; a deep-breathing, fascinating piece of music that’s definitely worth discovering. It will not only touch his fans, but also new listeners who have not yet had the pleasure of hearing Al Gromer Khan’s music.
---------------
[AGK usually recommends to listen to his music at low volume, to achieve what he calls the ''indirect listening'' experience. Well, we gave ''Lexus'' a run on a sizeable stereo setup with the knob at a not exactly quiet position. What can we say, it was a BLAST :-) Immersive, if anything; like flying the night skies over india or something. So, if you go to your preferred record dealer to give the thing a listen, be sure to try both settings.]
