Description

Herbert Willi sees his work ABBA-MA as an appeal for peace to all individuals. Composed in response to a commission by the Musikfestspiele Saar, the work focuses on our lively, ongoing dialogue and refl ections on peace. Th e narrative action is expressed through the setting of the Lord’s Prayer in the past tense. The sung ‘ABBA-MA’, freely translated as ‘God father-mother’, also transforms listeners into the ‘echo of peace’. Alongside the customary wind and string orchestration, the composition requires an extensive percussion section with three to four Performers.
