Description
Academic accuracy without compromise for practical use: the Anton Bruckner Complete Urtext Edition contains 45 volumes with accompanying performance material. Beginning with the 7. Sinfonie, the edition will be published by the Verlagsgruppe Hermann under the patronage of Nikolaus Harnoncourt. The chief editor, Benjamin-Gunnar Cohrs, heads a team of renowned researchers and musicians who have undertaken a comprehensive examination of all available sources – including autographs and first printed editions – and clearly indicated all variations in the musical text with the aid of multi-coloured imaging, employed for the first time within this field. A special feature of the7. Sinfonie is the use of four Wagner tubas in the second and fourth movements. As these instruments are not always available, the performance material also offers alternative parts for tenor or baritone horn and euphonium.
