Description

This work is a postlude to the wellknown Zarzuela, La Verbena de la Paloma by Tomas Bretón. As if in a dream, the story is told a second time but with a different ending and with the addition of children’s choir. I wanted to retain the popular, satirical character of the Zarzuela, honoring Flamenco and Latin-American music and providing the score with the liveliness of a carnival. However, this is juxtaposed with the tragic political background of a dictatorial regime. Thierry Pécou
