Henri Dutilleux‘s work‚ Sur le même accord‘ for violin and orchestra awakens a lot of associations and moods in the mind of the listener. The overall character of the work is solemn, at first quite reserved but as the work progresses it becomes more expressive, echoing the various stages of grief. The song of the solo violin is reminiscent of a voice with which a person articulates his despair.
