Essential Solos

Each book gives you the opportunity to work on reading, technique, phrasing, articulation and overall style. In addition, these solos offer melodic richness of idiomatic jazz and blues vocabulary. Once learned and played to the accompanying CD, these solos can serve as a base for your own improvisations. To memorise an entire solo, or even a single or two lines, can be particularly useful when it comes to improvising your own solos. If you’ve mastered one of the solos with the help of the play-along CD, try improvising while incorporating some of the recorded solo material. Also try to write your own solos and record them to see what they sound like.
