Description

Steve Martland is a revolutionary. His appearance, attitudes and unruly compositions between rock and classical music have made him the 'enfant terrible' of the British avant-garde. It is always the rhythm that predominates in his exclusively expressive music. 'Re-Mix' is based on a Baroque composition for viola da gamba by Marin Marais which became popular by the French film 'Tous les matins du monde'. The short wild march of brass and percussion in the jazzy folkloric composition 'Re-Mix' has got drive and power. Composed in 1985, the work was awarded the SACD Prize for Video Dance.
