Description
The symphonic fantasia for orchestra, Hommage à Hieronymus Bosch, by Svatopluk Havelka constitutes a unique musical evocation of the imaginative world of images of the late Gothic painter. Bosch was able to bring a new quality into the rigid symbolism of the art of that period: an enchanting view of human passions and fates. Havelka’s score wants neither to describe nor paraphrase the images, but first and foremost discerns their intellectual message and freely interprets it with its own, specifically musical means.
