Griot's Dance

Griot’s Dance (GREE-oh's Dance) is an exciting work for string orchestra that utilizes calypso rhythms to tell it’s powerful story. Griots are West African poets, musicians, and dancers who tell stories and lead songs. This piece utilizes the keys of G minor and D minor, however, because of the transitional nature of the piece, a key signature is not utilized. All instruments are given equal treatment in receiving exciting melodic content as well as calypsodic rhythmic accompaniments.
