Description
A melody line is repeated many times, changing its appearance little by little every time it is heard with the colorful and beautiful modification of the orchestra. It came from an influence which Toru Takemitsu had from Japanese landscape gardens in the ‘go-round’ style of the Edo period. ‘You walk along the path, stopping here and there to contemplate, and eventually find yourself back where you started from. Yet it is no longer the same starting point.’ (Toru Takemitsu)
While being supported by delicate and lyrical orchestration, the solo trombone can express both the charm and the whole dynamic and tonal range of the instrument.
