Description
Chevaux-de-fries were barriers of metal spikes designed to defend against cavalry charges in the seventeenth century. The piece is aggressive in nature and was written to mark the four-hundredth anniversary of the Spanish Armarda, which suffered considerable losses as it retreated round the west coast of Ireland.
